Only seasoned, serious coffee drinkers will know of the Thomson’s test pilot. They send you a mystery bag of 250g or 1kg of whole bean coffee test batches, then reveal the coffee information in exchange for your feedback via a QR code on the back of the packet.

They are exceptionally proud of their history whilst keeping up with their reputation for innovation and brewing up new ideas. Supplying their original roast from 1841 as well as modern roasts from their South Side based roastery. The new Thomson’s Coffee HQ in Giffnock spans two floors, with an Espresso Bar and Retail Shop on the ground floor and offices / showroom on the upper level.

Please note: The Roastery is no longer open to the public, but their new flagship HQ is located a short walk away.

Where to order: Named after their founding date, 1841 is a partnership café and retail store in collaboration with a good friend. Spitfire (8) and Short Long Black (20) are also two places to sample Thomson’s cup of weegie history.
